Talking To Trent, February 2019

It’s not my problem but it’s my responsibility. This is something I teach in all my presentations. For too long I’ve heard every reason as to why people aren’t being their best. It blows my mind how many people know what they need to do yet they don’t do it! Whether it be physical or mental there always seems to be someone or something to blame. I just don’t get it.

I’m here to tell you that you will only ever move forward when you realise that it is your responsibility to change yourself. I’ve had people train with me and I hear things like: ‘I’m not a morning person, I’ve got three kids at home, my partner starts work early, I’m not fit, my boss made me work late’, or one of the best, ‘I don’t like push ups’.

All of these may play a part, but they are all outside factors you need to overcome. To be your best you have to start from the inside out and not allow anything or anyone stand in your way. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.

I hear similar things when I teach mental health like ‘my psychiatrist didn’t care so I stopped going’, ‘my parents made me this way’, ‘I can’t go to work because I don’t like my boss’.

Again these may have some truth but the bottom line is they are excuses and reasons that you allow to stop you being your best. You are allowing these outside factors to stop you from living your life.

None of these things will change unless you take responsibility and take charge of your life. The world is full or excuses and blame is everywhere but believe me when I say, ‘until you step up and tackle these ‘problems’ head on you will continue to stay in your rut.’

You may have to change your environment, your work, your friends and even your family but I can guarantee the sooner you remove the blame and take responsibility the sooner you will start to grow. Start looking for things to make it right not the things that make it wrong. Stand strong to what you believe in and get what’s yours because no one else is going to get it for you. Dreams don’t come on a silver platter they come from hard work, dedication and most importantly, responsibility. The life you live is entirely up to you. Get heathy, get successful and never stop trying to be better.
