The newest school in the state has opened in Ballina, in a state-of-the-art building with innovative resources and design. Its architecture reflects the pedagogy for this century’s learners.
Further additions to the building site continue. Ballina Shire Council is building the much awaited Indoor Sports Stadium on the grounds. The inclusion of this resource will make Ballina the centre-piece for sporting competitions in the region.
A number of open days have been held to show the community the exciting new facilities for children in our towns. These have been very popular with parents, past students and the general public.
Sport is a feature of the school. Last week the swimming Carnival was held at the Ballina pool. The whole school was involved in a parade down the street in house colours before the events. A wonderful day of participation saw the house team named Gwardi win the first carnival of the year. Gwardi is the Bundgalung word for dolphin.
Education has changed in our Shire and we look forward to continuing and developing many partnerships with the businesses and organisations in the area.
