Raising funds for a good cause while giving people a fun night out is one of local action group Ballina Region for Refugees’ (BR4R) best ideas.
The upcoming Ballina Players musical HMS Pinafore fundraiser on 21st June has already sold out, as supporters made sure of getting their tickets early. Tickets are still available for other nights to see the show.
BR4R’s focus during this year is its Homestay program. In this program the homes of supporters around the Ballina region are opened to refugees and asylum seekers for short-term stays.
The compassionate motivation of Homestay hosts is to provide respite to those who are undergoing very difficult experiences. Through Homestay, and in other ways, the group aims to help in building a bridge between asylum seekers and refugees and the Australian community.
Ballina Region for Refugees, through all its activities, contributes to the growing voice in Australia of those campaigning for asylum seekers and refugees to be treated with humanity.
Proceeds from the Musical night will fund not only homestays but also contribute to the Nauru Friendship Group – local women giving a hand of friendship to isolated women on Nauru.
BR4R would like to thank Ballina Players and all supporters for their generosity.
