Lake DA On Exhibition


A Development Application has been lodged by Council for the proposed works at Lake Ainsworth, which include the controversial closure of the Eastern Road. The DA will be on exhibition until Monday 29 January and public feedback is welcome. The notice is as follows:

Notice is hereby given that Ballina Shire Council, as the determining authority, is in receipt of an activity requiring environmental assessment under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

Submissions close: 4.30pm (AEDT) Monday 29 January 2018.

Description of proposed activity: Lake Ainsworth Foreshore Improvement Works Including:

  1. Rehabilitating the Eastern Road by Pro ling the Existing Pavement and Constructing a Footpath;
  2. Reconstruction of the Existing Intersection between Paci c Parade, The Eastern Road and the Southern Road Adjacent to the Lennox Head/Alstonville Surf Life Saving Club building with a New Two-Way Intersection Incorporating the Termination Point of the Eastern Road (open to emergency and maintenance vehicles only);
  3. Reconstruction and Minor Realignment of the Southern Road and Formalising the Adjoining Car Parking Between Paci c Parade and Camp Drew Road; and
  4. Environmental Management Works, Bank Stabilisation, Landscaping and Open Space and Passive Recreation Embellishments.

A Review of Environmental Factors (REF) has been prepared by DAC Planning Pty Ltd presenting the investigations undertaken into the environmental impacts of the proposed Lake Ainsworth Foreshore Improvement.

The REF dated November 2017 and associated documents may be inspected at Council’s Customer Service Centre, 40 Cherry Street, Ballina, between 8.15am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays), at the Lennox Head library or on Council’s website by clicking on the Notice Board (under Quick Links) then the Documents on Exhibition link on the front page at

Any interested person may make a submission to Council in relation to any aspect of the proposal. Such submissions should be received by Council no later than 4.30pm Monday 29 January 2018. If the submission is an objection to the proposal, the grounds for objection must be clearly stated.     Hi Helen
    Do you know the location and timeframe if the No Sandmine in Lennix rally which starts at 10am Saturday? It’s missing from their FB promo on the I Live in Lennox FB page and there’s only the capacity to express interest, not ask the location. I cannot see the information in the Lennox Wave either but maybe I’m not technologically savvy enough to find it? Cheers.
