Local clients of Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist Lisa Treharne are relieved Lisa is back again living and practicing in Lennox.
Lisa started practising in our region in 1999. By 2010 she seized an opportunity to ‘see the world’ and work on cruise ships travelling around the Americas and Mediterranean.
The five years at sea mixed career challenges with magnificent lifestyle. Accustomed to forging long-term relationships with clients, working in tourism now meant Lisa’s client diagnosis and treatment had a turnaround of mere days. Apart from the usual pain management cases, she found herself many times successfully treating patients struck with the dreaded seasickness.
Along with treatments at the Day Spa, she also held lectures and workshops. Lisa converted many on-board clients, who had never before considered acupuncture or Chinese medicine, to seek out their local acupuncture practitioners after returning back home from holidays.
Lisa’s experience and qualifications extend back to 1980 when she trained and worked as a Chinese and Remedial Massage Therapist. This led to another stint of four years study qualifying in 1988 as an Acupuncturist in the very first Australian recognised Diploma of Applied Science (Acupuncture).
Over the years Lisa continued to improve her knowledge and gain extensive clinical experience. A highlight was living in China 2007-8 undertaking a Post Graduate internship at the prestigious Jiangxi Provence Nanchang Hospital and University and graduating with an Advanced Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
2015 required Lisa to return to Australia to renew her AHPRA qualifications. At this point she decided to drop anchor permanently back in Lennox as the ideal location to live, continue her practice and still allow her to dip her toes into the ocean.
