Local surf teacher and environmentalist Dave Sharp (or get-a-wave-Dave as he is known to locals) plans to take off into the bush to demonstrate his commitment to the environment and to stress how important our natural resources and untouched wildernesses are.
Dave has been teaching locals to surf for years, as part of the Cheyne Horan surf school. He dreams of one day starting up a uniquely and solely Lennox Head Surf School, that will focus on locals who want to discover the magic of the surf and its healing qualities.
With a solar powered camera, his 11ft longboard and his passion for the community he plans to ‘Walk Away’ into a remote, wilderness destination to help protect our beautiful Village Lennox Head.
Dave says, ‘I will walk away into the wilderness for 3 months showing the world that we need to protect what is left of our coastline. i will have no contact with the outside world for 3 months.’
‘I am no jungle man but with my passion for life and nature I know I will be safe and this personally will be one of my greatest achievements of my life.
