Big Weekend for Club Lennox

Over 500 people—kids and parents—made their way through the doors of the Lennox Head Cultural and Community last Friday night, ready to dance the evening away.

At 5.00pm over 100 little kids under the age of 7 with the Craziest Hair—pink, yellow, green, plaited, frizzed, and gelled—swarmed the dance floor and showed the oldies how to have a really good time.

They were led by the amazing Vic Leto, part of the Disco Statik team, who entertained them with music and light show, plus dancing competitions with plenty of prizes.

At 7 pm after the littlies had gone home, the next bunch of kids between the ages of 7 and 12 arrived in Colours of the Rainbow. Finally at 9pm the teens had their turn.

Close to $3000 was raised for Club Lennox through raffle ticket sales and entry fees on the night. Huge thanks must go to Vic Leto who put in an enormous effort on the night to entertain the kids and then stayed on with Graham Shaw to clean up.

According to Graham Shaw, Chair of the Marketing and Fundraising Committee for Club Lennox, ‘Parents are already asking us when the next event will be. It seems that this could quite feasibly be a regular event at the Community Centre, especially for the younger ones,’ he said.

Mothers Day Raffle

On top of the $3000 raised at the disco, Graham and his team were also busy on Saturday outside the IGA selling raffle tickets for the Mothers Day Raffle, raising $1000 and then again at the market on Sunday pulling in another $2000. The raffle is proving very popular, which is not surprising, with a collection of prizes that would make any mother cry:

  • 1 Nights Accommodation – Headland Resort
  • Dinner for 2 – IWok
  • Bouquet of Flowers – Florentina Flowers
  • Gift Hamper of Skin Care products –  Lennox Head Pharmacy
  • Gift Voucher for facial and special product package –  Inner Beauty
  • Massage –  Denise Stobart
  • Magnum of Champagne – Cellarbrations
  • Hair Cut and Style  – Urban Earth
  • Box of Imported Chocolate – IGA

The raffle will be drawn on Saturday 11 May outside the IGA.

According to Graham Shaw, Club Lennox’s fundraising activities are now coming very close to $30,000, and this is only the beginning.
