Annually on the 8th March since the early 1900s, International Women’s Day, (IWD) has been observed, celebrating and empowering women the world over.
Thousands of events are held worldwide to inspire women and celebrate achievements, and in Lennox Head we have two great events to look forward to.
On Thursday 7 March at the Beef and Beach restaurant the Chamber of Commerce will hold an International Womens’ Day lunch, with guest speakers Bundjalang woman Nancy Walke and Stephanie Lorenzo who started an organisation called Project Futures to end sex trafficking in Cambodia. This event is unique because men are most welcome to attend. There will also be entertainment.
Tickets are $45 and can be purchased on the Chamber of Commerce website.
On Friday 8 March the Lennox Head VIEW Club will be hosting a Champagne Breakfast at the Lennox Head Community Centre. The programme includes presentations from inspirational women, including The Hon Bronwyn Bishop, Paralympian Jacqueline Freney, local author Jesse Blackadder, and local business woman Parvin Mansouri who will speak of her early life in Iran.
Bookings are essential and tickets can be purchased for $25 from Seagrass, Ballina Street Lennox Head, or by sending names, address and money to Lennox Head VIEW Club PO Box 78 Lennox Head 2478.
