Ballina Indoor Sports Centre Funding

Today Ballina Shire Council has received $3.5 million from the NSW government to fund the new Ballina Indoor Sports Centre.

The two-court facility will be located at the new Ballina Coast High School site and will adjoin another two-court facility, currently under construction, by the NSW Department of Education.

The two facilities will be linked by an enclosed passageway and combined they will form a four-court regional scale sports facility.

This new sports infrastructure is designed to boost participation in sports such as basketball, netball and futsal.

“This is very welcome news for Ballina Shire Council. To have the Centre part- funded by the NSW Government means we can build a state-of-the-art indoor sports facility at minimal cost to ratepayers,” said Mayor David Wright.

The new facility will house two full sized indoor sports courts, spectator areas, operations room, foyer/reception area, multipurpose meeting space, kitchen space, first aid room, change rooms and amenities.

The facility has development approvals in place, is ‘shovel ready’ and is expected to be open by Christmas 2019.

Minimal cost to rate payers!!!! That’s a laugh, we haven’t finished paying for the pool yet with our last rate increase that will hit us for years! Stop building this stuff unless you have the money you goose.

The BSC stuffed up the last courts they built in Lennox Head. Let’s hope they don’t do the same with this one.
