Following a protest at McGeary’s sand mine on Saturday 13 January, and in the lead up to the end of public exhibition of the sand mine DA, the group No Sand Mine For Lennox Head is organising an information event with EDO NSW.
The event will take place this Thursday January 18, from 6pm – 8pm at the CWA Hall, 1 Mackney Lane.
EDO NSW is a community legal centre specialising in public interest environmental law. They help people who want to protect the environment through law.
If you are concerned about the development of a new sand mine in Lennox Head, you can attend this free information session tomorrow.
The event is being organised by ‘No Sand Mine For Lennox Head’, and will provide information about how to protest the development. The workshop will cover the development assessment process, steps the community can take to protect the environment from the impacts of development both before and after developments are approved, and tips on submission writing and how to influence decisions affecting the environment.
The DA will be open for public submissions until 29 January.
