On 5 June we were pleased to see 30 at our monthly meeting and welcomed new members but no B Ward Councillors.
BSC Delivery Plan to 2021 is devastating with little allocated for Lennox Head. The Main Street working party considered one vs two way traffic flow but the entire town centre upgrade has been ignored in the four year plan. Members are encouraged to correspond with BSC expressing concern at the delay in improvements by emailing email@example.com. With Lennox Head’s centenary only five years away in 2022, there is no time to delay preparing to showcase our village. The Plan is on the BSC web site at https://www.ballina.nsw.gov.au/cp_themes/default/agm.asp.
Dr Stewart’s farm (Intrapac Properties) development, Skennars Head was detailed by Rod Willis, General Manager, Development and Environmental Health, Ballina Shire Council (BSC). 214 lots are planned for Stage 1. The DA (2017/244.1) is on the BSC site at http://da.ballina.nsw.gov.au, Council Chambers or Lennox Head Library and submissions to BSC on the proposed development close on 7 July. Headlands Drive-Coast Road intersection is a contentious issue (traffic lights vs roundabout) with BSC’s preferred option a roundabout. Consistency with the DCP is another concern. As the proposal value exceeds $10million it will be adjudicated by the Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP) which will consider any submission made by BSC.
Additional sandmine on Newrybar Swamp Road is worrying with numbers of truck movements, flooding, compliance, accountability and rehabilitation impacts identified. Information is available on the No Sand Mine for Lennox facebook page.
