As part of the Love Lennox Festival on Saturday, June 3, local author Zanni Louise will hold a special storytime session for children (and adults alike) at the Lennox Head Library, reading from her new book, “Archie and the Bear”. This will be followed by a talk, for an adult audience, about the creative process of writing children’s books, which will include such topics as how to find an illustrator, getting published and how to generate publicity for your work. Zanni’s first book, Too Busy Sleeping, was a Children’s Book Council Notable Book in 2016. When not writing books, Zanni Louise also hosts storytelling and bookmaking activities for children and creative workshops for adults. Zanni’s reading in the library will start at 12.00 noon, followed by her author’s talk at 12.30pm.
Lennox Library will be celebrating the Love Lennox Festival in other ways. There will be a demonstrations of yarn spinning and knitting by the library’s craft group, Makerspace, as well as a fun children’s activity involving the yarn bombing of small trees in the library. The Makerspace group will also be yarn bombing various structures around the Community Centre. (Look out for characters from children’s stories on poles and down pipes!) Visitors to the library can also play with our giant games such as chess, draughts, noughts and crosses and Jenga. The library will be open an extra two hours until 2.00pm to celebrate the event.
