Studio 57’s Michelle Martinovich has joined up with another Northern Rivers creative business, exporting her wonderful vintage clothing, French vintage dresses and contemporary linen fashion all the way to Brunswick Heads.
A Curious Collective at 7 Tweed Street, Brunswick Heads is a little piece of paradise: an eclectic, magical creation of 4 designers, all of whom are fascinated by the old and determined to make beautiful things by recreating, repurposing, and upcycling.
They inhabit an old garage space which they have turned into a gallery, and every couple of weeks they put their heads together and curate displays of their wares.
According to Justine Tasker, (also from Lennox Head) one of the members of the group, ‘we like to create a new exhibition on a theme every 2 weeks. This makes it interesting for people to keep coming back, and just makes the whole space come alive in a new way.’
Justine’s Broken Heart Repair Shop sells recycled, upcycled vintage curiosities. She is in good company with Sabina Dodds of Sisters Of Salvage (Vintage Clothing and old furniture), Natalie Holt of Rust and Romance (upcycled furniture), and Anastasia India (printed stationary, and upcycled furniture).
Justine says Michelle is a perfect match for the existing group of designers and is excited to welcome the Studio 57 range to Bruns.
And for Michelle it’s a great match too.
‘It’s really inspiring to be working with such an amazing group of women who are all so talented and clever,’ she says. ‘They all have a beautiful aesthetic, and a great eye for the unusual.’
A Curious Collective is open 7 days 10am to 4pm.
