Final Stage Of Roadworks

Stage 3 of the Angels Beach Drive upgrade which includes the construction of a roundabout at the Angels Beach Drive and Links Avenue intersection is nearing the final stages of completion.

For the works to be completed in the most cost effective, efficient and safest way, it is necessary to close sections of Angels Beach Drive during these final stages of construction.

Access will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists.

From Monday 25 July the alternate routes will be (SEE MAP 1):

  • Ballina traffic to and from Lennox Head use The Coast Road.
  • North Angels Estate and Silver Gull Drive Estate motorists use The Coast Road.
  • East Ballina (Lakeside) motorists heading towards Ballina Island can use Angels Beach Drive.
  • East Ballina (Lakeside) motorists heading towards Lennox Head will need to use The Coast Road via the Manly Street intersection.

From Thursday 28 July the alternate routes will be (SEE MAP 2):

  • Ballina traffic to and from Lennox Head use The Coast Road.
  • North Angels Estate and Silver Gull Drive Estate motorists use The Coast Road.
  • East Ballina (Lakeside) motorists heading towards Ballina Island will need to use The Coast Road via the Manly Street intersection.
  • East Ballina (Lakeside) motorists heading towards Lennox Head can use Angels Beach Drive.

It is expected, all going well with weather and construction, that the road will be reopened on Monday 1 August.

The Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) has identified Angels Beach Drive as a black spot and has allocated $2 million to the upgrade.

 

Council thanks motorists for their continued patience and understanding. These works are necessary to make this arterial road and intersection safer and prevent future fatalities.
