Over the last twelve months Ballina Shire Council has upgraded a number of Sewer Pump Stations to safeguard against dry weather sewer overflows and to meet environmental requirements.
Rutherford Street Sewer Pump Station is one of two remaining pump stations left to be upgraded.
As part of the upgrade Council will be installing a new pipeline from the existing pump station in Rutherford Street to twelve new storage tanks that are to be located beneath the beach carpark.
To ensure the safety of road users, pedestrians and construction staff, Rutherford Street will be closed from the Rayner Lane intersection to the beach carpark adjacent to the Boat Channel.
This closure will be in place from 7am Monday 20 June to 5pm Wednesday 22 June (weather permitting).
Pedestrian and vehicle access will be available along Rutherford Street for residences only. Beach access is still available at the end of Dress Circle Drive. For further information contact Civil Services, Ballina Shire Council on telephone 6686 4444.
