Students living in Lennox Head have some thoughtful and progressive ideas for the future of Lennox Head.
At a recent meeting organised by the Lennox Head Residents’ Association, the students representing Emmanuel Anglican College, Southern Cross K-12, Xavier Catholic College and Holy Family were given the opportunity to have their say about village renewal.
With further meetings planned, the LHRA hopes that the information gathered from the students will contribute to a master plan for the future development of Lennox Head.
A wide variety of issues and concerns were discussed. The students were then encouraged to take their ideas back to their respective schools for further consideration with a wider group of their Lennox Head peers.
The topics raised included:
*concerns for the environment and cleanliness of the village
*the need for more sporting and recreational opportunities – basketball courts, public tennis court, enlarged skate park, a BMX track and a rock pool
*opportunities for education and training for school leavers
*more public transport
* use of the LHCCC for youth social activities and provision of a youth worker
*a music festival perhaps in connection with the Love Lennox Festival
