Thurs 25 June— Jam Night from 8pm. The legendary Lennox Jam night has been running for many years and brings musicians in from all around the Northern Rivers areas and beyond. Come on down, bring your instrument. All are welcome who are looking to gain experience or just want to mingle with musicians.

Lifeball – Lennox Head Community & Cultural Centre

Annual NAIDOC Exhibition Group Show

This vibrant exhibition coincides with NAIDOC Week celebrations featuring a diverse selection of works by Aboriginal artists living and working in the Northern Rivers Region. This year’s NAIDOC theme ‘We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect and Celebrate’, is an opportunity to pay respects to country; honour those who work tirelessly on preserving land, sea and culture and to share the stories of many sites of significance or sacred places with the nation.

TELLING OF THE STARS – Southern Cross Distance Education Students

The Telling of the Stars installation is a collection of small star like woven forms created by female students from the Southern Cross Distance Education program with Lismore based artist Penny Evans. The first twinkle of this collaborative project began as an idea to link students from the program with artist Penny Evans in a series of mentor based creative workshops. Visitors can create and add a star to the installation in a workshop with Penny Evans.

Breast Cancer Support Group – Kentwell Community Hall, Ballina

Thurs 25 June – 10am-11.30am. For any woman, or friends and family, diagnosed with, or recovering from, breast cancer. Held on the 1st Thursday of the month the meeting includes a sharing of morning tea and information, followed by a guest speaker and a relaxation session.

Kids activity winter holidays (7 – 11 years) During the school holidays your kids can become Wildlife Guardians and spend the day with the keepers behind-the-scenes in the Animal Park. Activities include:

  • learning about conservation and caring for our wildlife
  • design and build a reptile enclosure
  • create enrichment for the wombats and native birds
  • mini-golf and much more

Numbers are strictly limited so book in early to avoid disappointment Limit 15 per workshop Time: 9 am to 3.30 pm (register 8.30 am) Cost:  $75 Includes: lunch, afternoon tea, bottle of water & certificate of participation Sign in from 8.30 am. Parents collect children inside park at 3.30 pm

Keeper For a Day special events (12 – 18 years) Be a Park Keeper for A Day – Your teenagers can spend a day behind the scenes with one of the senior keepers. Find out what working in a captive animal facility is all about.  Learn about the conservation of our local wildlife, animal husbandry practises and work at creating and providing enrichment for our animals. Space is limited to 5 participants per day so book your place early. Runs during school holidays only Limit 6 per workshop Time: 9 am to 3.30 pm (register 8.30 am) COST:  $125 per participant Includes: lunch, afternoon tea, bottle of water, certificate of participation & Keeper For a Day cap.

Meet Minnie the wombat!

The Castle’s newest arrival Minnie the wombat is maximum cute & cuddly!  She is an orphaned baby wombat that now has a comfortable air conditioned home at the Castle. Minnie will be learning all the tricks to being a wombat from her new best friend Kahlua, our 27kg female wombat. Her keepers are introducing Minnie to the public twice daily at 10 am and 1:30 pm.  There are very limited photo opportunities with Minnie at both times.

Exclusive Behind The Scenes Picnic with Minnie

At 4 pm your group (up to 4) can join Minnie for a very special event. Take her for her a walk, feed her and spend some time getting to know her. Bookings are essential for this extra special activity. Cost $60 – limited to 4 people per session (children must be accompanied by an adult).

Skullcandy OZ Grom Open 2015 – Lennox Head Foreshore

Fri 3 – Wed 8 July – Australia’s premier boardriding club Le Ba Boardriders has again teamed up with Skullcandy Headphones for the 2015″SKULLCANDY OZ GROM OPEN”, a premium junior surfing event during July at Lennox Head NSW. The event will showcase the cream of Junior Surfing and also include the new exciting Pro Junior event. The same panel of judges with WSL experience will be judging at the event again in 2015. The event will have live webcast for the last 4 days of the 6 day format.
