Lennox Head Pirates Cricket Club have continued their fantastic start to the season with both first grade and 3rd grade Buccaneers undefeated after 6 weeks of cricket. First grade have had a dream start to the season after a solid first up win against Pottsville away, they have now beaten last years premiers Cudgen with a heroic effort at Megan Oval and a memorable win against Casino away. The round 2 match against Cudgen saw the pirates chasing 320 after being 5-48 at stumps at day 1. Amazingly they chased it down with a club record 104 unbeaten 10th wicket partnership between youngsters Isaac Fisher (77no) and Lewin Maladay (31no). The boys certainly appreciated the support from the huge home crowd that turned up to witness one of the best games played in LJ Hooker League history. Round 3 against Casino saw the Pirates defending a modest total of 163, and after having Casino 3-90 at stumps on the first week the match was in the balance, but speedster Adam Armistead (5-52) did the damage with the ball and Casino lost their last 6 wickets for 40 runs and allowed the Pirates to continue their unbeaten run. With 4 weeks of club cricket remaining before the break and a first up win over the motherland in the Ashes test at the Gabba it promises to be another memorable summer of cricket.
