Stimulating worldwide awareness of environmental issues every year on 5th June, World Environment day is celebrated. To coincide with this important celebration and continuing its contribution to the ongoing restoration works on the headland, the eleventh annual Lennox Head Community Tree Planting will be taking place Friday 31 May.
Hosted by GeoLINK and Ballina Shire Council with assistance from local community groups, the popular community event continues its goal to plant native seedlings of littoral rainforest species, aiming to bring back the rainforest as it existed pre 1800’s and creating a lasting natural legacy.
As illustrated in the aerial map attached a large area has been planted since the event’s inception but there is still a lot more work to be done.
GeoLINK would like to invite local groups and organisations to be a part of the day by organising a component of the day or an associated activity. Tree sponsorship is available and a unique way to contribute. We encourage the wider community to get involved by coming along on the day and helping to plant some trees. Also, the team at GeoLINK is once again calling on the Lennox business community to help support their initiative through sponsorship.
